Surgery is an inherently visual art. It must be seen to be understood.
HelmetCams are primarily used today in extreme sporting events. Here a small lipstick camera is attached to the athlete's helmet providing a first-person perspective on the sporting activity. Viewers can vicarious experisnce the thrill of the game. We have adopted this technology with a specially designed micro-lipstick camera. We took the smallest high resolutions camera available today and attached it with a custom mount to the surgeon's glasses or goggles. It as tethered by a 15 meter to a portable digital video deck. Audio is provided by a wireless professional quality UHF microphone system clipped to the top of the surgeon's gown. This technology allows us to deliver the first-ever SurgeonCam providing a first-person perspective on the operation.
